Pasagardas. Patronymicum enim hoc nomen est, ab Achaemene, qui ad Perseum genus suum referebat, unde Α᾿χαιμενίδαι tribus, e qua reges Persidae origidoe originem duxerunt. Fuit autem ille Achaemenes Astyagis pater, Cyri avus, uti patet ex ordine, quô Maiores suos Xerxes recenset, apud Herodctum. Perseus vero, ad quem ipse principium originis suae referebat, per filium vel nepotem suum Persen, genti Periarum nomen dedit: Inde iidem Περσείδαι βασιλεῖς, Persidae Reges, apud Apollodorum Biblioth. l. 2. qui, utpote ex Achaemene oriundi, Achaemenidae appellati sunt. Hos Cambyses, apud Herodotum, quum Magi Regiam occupâssent, praecipue compellat, et obtestatur, ne post eius mortem Regnum ad Medos iterum transire paterentur, aut in Magorum potestate relinquerent. Stephanus Α᾿χαιμεϚίαν appellat μοῖραν, h. e. ρυλην`: Strabo Α᾿χαιμενίδας ρῦλον, et Persidis interiora colere dicit, usque ad Carmaniae fines, cum Patischorensibus et Magis etc. Vide Salmaf. ad Solin. p. 1182. et 1183. et supra Achaemenes.
